Crest Distributing (doing business as Christensen Oil Company) was founded by Owen D. Christensen in 1973. Owen began his career in the petroleum business in the 1940's as a lubricants and fuel consignee for Utah Oil Company (UTOCO). Eventually, Owen had the opportunity to purchase a bulk plant and a dozen retail outlets from American Oil Company (AMOCO), and he incorporated as an independent distributor in 1973.

Through the years, Christensen Oil has grown into a commercial-industrial corporation, distributing approximately 1,000,000 gallons of lubricants and 35,000,000 gallons of fuel each year to customers. Christensen Oil also entered the automotive installer segment, making the selling of oil and air filters, wiper blades, greases and gear oils a significant part of its business. Christensen Oil is a member of the Commercial Fueling Network (CFN) with six CFN locations in Utah that provide 24-hour fleet and general public fueling services.

Today, Christensen Oil is owned and operated by Owen's two sons, Todd and Kurt Christensen. Todd serves as President of the company with Kurt as Vice-President. They are both thoroughly familiar with every aspect of the business, having worked in the business since its incorporation almost half a century ago. The company's philosophy today is the same as the day Owen started it--that success is a result of hard work, integrity, gratitude and determination.
